This CDC data shows where rates of heat-related illness are highest

The CDC reports high levels of heat-related illness in the U.S. this year, with spikes in various regions, especially in areas not traditionally dealing with extreme heat. Climate change is making extreme heat events more frequent and intense, leading to preventable deaths. The CDC advises precautions for those spending time in the heat, as heat-related illnesses can escalate quickly. Vulnerable groups include pregnant individuals, those with lung conditions, young children, and the elderly. Better planning, public awareness, and increased access to air conditioning are essential for protecting people from heat-related consequences.
