Get ready for the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction
- OSHA encourages employers to participate in the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, scheduled for May 6-10, to raise awareness of fall hazards and the importance of fall protection.
- Falls from elevation contributed to 395 of the nearly 1,100 construction deaths in 2022, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Activities during the event may include toolbox talks, safety equipment inspections, rescue plan development, and discussions on hazardous tasks.
- Employers not exposed to fall hazards can use the opportunity to discuss other job hazards, protective methods, safety policies, and goals. Resources and event listings are available on OSHA’s website, and participants can share their activities on social media using #StandDown4Safety.
