Kansas Plumbing Company Fined $333K After Trench Collapse
A Kansas plumbing company, has been fined $333,949 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) after a trench collapse incident. The collapse buried a worker and the company’s foreman, who were eventually rescued. OSHA found that the trench had no cave-in protection and that the company violated federal trench safety regulations willfully. The investigation also revealed other violations related to worker safety, resulting in proposed penalties. The general contractor, Multicon Inc., was cited for one serious violation related to cave-in and engulfment hazards.
