OSHA rule proposal would require construction PPE to fit properly

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is proposing a rule to clarify personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for construction. The rule would explicitly require that PPE fits workers properly, benefiting both men and women in the industry. OSHA believes the rule will improve safety and effectiveness for all workers. The proposal has been welcomed by industry experts and labor unions. OSHA will accept public comments on the rule until September 18, 2023. The estimated one-time transitional expense for the industry to comply with properly fitting PPE is around $545,000.
