OSHA to Require Employers to Submit Injury and Illness Forms Online
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule requiring employers in designated industries with at least 100 employees to electronically submit injury and illness forms. This rule, set to take effect on January 1, 2024, restores and expands the requirements from the Obama-era rule introduced in 2016. Under the Trump Administration, the rule was modified to only require summary data submission on OSHA Form 300A. However, the new rule under the Biden Administration will revert to the original requirements and lower the employee threshold from 250 to 100. The collected data will be made available on OSHA’s website for various stakeholders.
