Powered Access Industry Accident Reports Up, Fatalities Down
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) released its Global Safety Report, showing a decrease in industry fatalities over the past decade despite an increase in incident reporting. In 2022, there were 759 safety incidents reported from 34 countries, up 15%, but the number of fatalities decreased by around 19% compared to 2021. Falls from the platform remained the most common underlying cause of accidents, with overturns and being hit by a machine, vehicle, or object as other leading causes. The report highlights the importance of incident reporting and ongoing safety campaigns to improve workplace safety in the powered access industry.
